Warehouses belonging to the United Nations World Food Program in Al-Abiad city were subjected to widespread looting yesterday, Thursday. The executive director of the program, Candi McKinn, condemned this incident, which includes food supplies targeting approximately 4.4 million people. He stated that it is unacceptable to steal from the hungry and called for an immediate halt to such actions.

According to McKinn, the World Food Program warehouses in Al-Abiad serve as the largest food distribution base in Africa and represent a lifeline for millions in Sudan and South Sudan.

On the other hand, the Saudi-American mediation announced the suspension of the Jeddah talks due to repeated serious violations of the short-term ceasefire. It stated that these violations have hindered the delivery of humanitarian aid and the restoration of services.

The mediation informed the parties of the steps they need to take to demonstrate their serious commitment to the Jeddah talks. Additionally, it specifically conveyed confidence-building measures that they want the other party to implement before resuming the Jeddah talks.

The mediation announced its readiness to reconvene the Jeddah talks as soon as the two parties take the necessary steps.
