Clashes in Nyala for the fifth consecutive day

Clashes in Nyala have continued for the fifth consecutive day. The clashes started on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning, intensifying and sporadically continuing on Thursday and Friday.

The situation escalated on Saturday morning, becoming more intense. The military intensified artillery shelling for 12 hours until this evening, in a manner never witnessed before in the city. The shelling reached most neighborhoods of the city.

A significant number of civilian casualties have been reported. The preliminary death toll stands at 17 over the course of the 5 days, while it has not been possible to assess the number of injuries and material losses due to the inability to leave homes.
