The Sudanese Human Rights Initiative has condemned the brutal assault on Mustafa Banga, a member of the initiative. The initiative described the attack as savage. In a statement issued today, the initiative stated that military forces wearing Sudanese army uniforms attacked Banga in the Thawra suburb of Omdurman at the 30th station while he was using public transportation. The statement added that the force forced him out of the vehicle and subjected him to physical assault after searching him and refusing to hand over his phones, money, and all his belongings, including his identification cards.

The initiative stated that this incident reveals the ongoing human rights violations suffered by Sudanese citizens during this war. It called on the parties to the conflict to take immediate measures to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.

The Sudanese Human Rights Initiative also called on the military leadership in the northern parts of Omdurman to control their members and hold accountable those who engage in looting, robbery, and attacks against citizens in their controlled areas in order to mitigate these phenomena.
