Clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces have reignited in Nyala, the capital of South Darfur, for the third consecutive day. The death toll of civilians has risen to more than 20, with over 70 people reported injured.

The Darfur Lawyers Association and its partners have warned against the dangerous trend of conducting battles within the city of Nyala, endangering civilians and resorting to indiscriminate gunfire on the streets and houses. The association stated that if this situation continues, South Darfur state may plunge into a state of complete chaos that could persist in the near future. They also revealed that the clashes have shifted to areas where displaced people sought refuge to escape the fighting.

Meanwhile, the Womens Alliance issued a statement today warning of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in most parts of the region due to the continuous confrontations between the two parties, which have led to disrupted services and road closures. The looming specter of famine adds to the severity of the situation.
