“ASP” refuses to dismiss El Obeid Teaching Hospital doctors

The Association of Socialist Physicians Rush rejected the decision of the Director General of the Ministry of Health of North Kordofan State to dismiss 47 doctors and women from work.

The decision of the authorities in northern Kordofan came against the backdrop of the strike of doctors at Al-Obeid Teaching Hospital, announced from August 4 to now, demanding that the working environment be improved, deportation and maintenance of doctors accommodation and financial arrears, since the outbreak of the confrontations between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces on April 15.

The strike was regarded by Rush as an effective right and weapon defined by the Sudanese and global labour movement as a tool of pressure for rights. According to a statement issued on Friday, the Association considers that the decision to arbitrarily dismiss is an unforgivable crime in the circumstances of this war, and that the dismissal of any medical personnel will be paid for by the continuation and stability of the service, which puts citizens lives at risk of dying of disease as well as death by bullets and missiles as a result of the war against civilians.
The decision clearly means that the authority is not keen on stabilizing health services otherwise it should have met the demands of doctors rather than dispensing with them in a state that has been a hotbed of armed conflict since April 15 and in a hospital that receives the injured from the state and neighbouring states.
