Fight opportunists by spreading awareness

Walid Al Noor

The Khartoum war entered in its fifth month and neither side of the conflict won victory over the other, but some media professionals continue to inflame the war opportunistically and provide it with false news of alleged victories and imminent resolution in favour of one party.

They criticize anyone who calls for negotiation or dialogue to stop the war and accuse him of continuing to RSF in order to silence and terrorize him.

Because of these opportunists and their loud voice, the war has now moved to states that were safe, thousands of families have been displaced from Southern Darfur, West Kordofan State has witnessed fierce battles, shells and barrages continue to fall on the head of civilians, death and injury figures have risen, with the countrys health system totally collapsed and hospitals in safe states not absorbing medical personnel suddenly unemployed.

The real role of media professionals, some of whom have turned into war times instead of spreading peace and citizens awareness of the dangers and finances of war, has been absent. Some of them used their authority and public opinion to disseminate discord and transmit videos and photographs of victims bodies, even though they knew they were contrary to professional ethics and human values.

Now it is the role of community leaders and civil society organizations to wake up from their long lapses and to urge the conflicting parties to halt the imminent intercommunal fighting. It began in the states of Darfur and moved to Western Kordofan State, in the absence of the security agencies entrusted with maintaining security in some states outside the circle of war, according to the Director-General of Police Forces.

All sons and daughters of the people present in the burning areas must emerge from silence and work in the community through the towns and villages by launching an urgent appeal to cease the intercommunal fighting and restore the spirit of tolerance that once existed among all components.

If the operators do not come out, they will leave the scene for sedition and opportunists to set more fire to their personal gains and burn the Sudan.

Media professionals outside and inside the Sudan call on your channels, radio stations and personal pages to prevent intercommunal fighting so that we do not lose more innocent lives.
