The Sukhoi Strikes Names, and Dana Ignites Titles

To them, it seemed as if names and titles were falling from the sky, much like the deadly projectiles of weapons that imposed a new culture of war on the residents of the capital, Khartoum. This culture has directly entered the list of newborns names and recorded titles, among them being Sukhoi and MIG aircraft, alongside Dana.

Just as Khartoum temporarily lost its title as the Sudanese capital in favor of the city of Port Sudan, the young man Waleed Abdelmanan relinquished the title The Kenyan, for which he was known since childhood, not by choice, after the public dubbed him Sukhoi due to his aggressive attacks and rocket strikes that tore through goal nets and terrorized them. This happened during daily football practice at the Dafouri stadium in Block 2 of Haj Yousif, which had been inactive for about three weeks due to the autumn rains.

The names of military aircraft were not limited to adults only; they also included young children. The name MIG has spread among them, much like the classmates of Mohammed Sharaf, who nicknamed him MIG due to his speed on the football field and the accuracy of his shots at the Belli playground. This playground has become the primary game for children stuck in Khartoum, living in difficult conditions.

The admiration of the young and children didnt stop at just admiring the Sukhoi and MIG aircraft or giving these nicknames to their peers. A new hobby emerged among them, which involves collecting the largest quantity of spent bullets scattered everywhere in the capital, Khartoum, along with its three cities. Whoever collects a bag or a box of these empty bullets is considered a victorious champion, even without any prizes.

As for Khidr, known among his friends as Adrop, he retained his title, but his newly born daughter was not spared. He named her Dana and said with a laugh, I named my daughter Dana. Shes like a Boko Haram vehicle without official documents for now, and we wont be able to register her until the war stops.

Khidr wasnt the only one who gave his child this name; there are more than six families who chose the same name, perhaps with the same motives that ignited the proliferation of names like Dana.

The word Dana is used to refer to a shell or projectile.
