The director of Sudan Animal Rescue in Khartoum, Sudan, Osman Saleh, has reported that a number of lions will be evacuated from the country due to the ongoing war. A total of 23 lions will be evacuated from Sudan, while the remaining animals will be relocated to natural reserves in other Sudanese states.

Saleh added that organizations in the United States and Jordan have expressed their willingness to host the lions, Saraya News reported.

The parks location within the Al-Baqir area in Southern Khartoum, which has witnessed intense fighting, resulted in multiple airstrikes on the park, necessitating the relocation of its animals.

The airstrikes have resulted in injuries to a lioness from shrapnel, and the park has also been subjected to looting, including theft of vehicles used to transport employees and provide food for the animals.

The evacuation process will take place in the coming days, either through the port or the airport in Port Sudan.
