Sudan War.. Jeddah platform to reconvene after 5 months

Follow-up - Moatinoon
Finally, after months of refrain, the Jeddah Forum for Ceasefire Negotiations will soon resume its discussions, as stated by the Central Councils leader in freedom and change.

The Sudan war entered its seventh month; War fighting continued with the exchange of shelling between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces; In Karri and Thorat localities, Al-Fetihab Al-Muhandiseen, East Khartoum and around the Sudanese Armys General Command, Khartoum State, fierce battles in Central Darfur have continued.

The Sudans war has claimed more than 10,000 deaths, more than 50,000 wounded and 6 million displaced. Sudanese people also face critical humanitarian conditions, in conflict zones and displacement zones, especially in the area of health.

Over the past two days, the tensions of returning to Jeddahs negotiating platform have emerged after regional and international consensus. Initiatives to resolve the Sudanese crisis, such as the Neighbouring Countries Initiative, the African Union Initiative, and IGAD announced last week in Cairo that the secretary of IGAD would be named as the representative of the African Union at the Jeddah Platform.

For its part, the United States of America welcomed the decision to consolidate all initiatives at the Jeddah Platform, sponsored by the United States of America and Saudi Arabia. In a statement on Wednesday, the US State Department said that there was no acceptable military solution to the conflict, and that victory by either side would cause unbearable losses to the Sudanese people and their nation.

The United States renewed its call for the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) to cease fighting immediately and return to talks towards a negotiated exit from this conflict.

The United States reminded the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudanese Armed Forces of their obligations under the Jeddah Declaration of Principles for the Protection of Civilians in the Sudan on 11 May, including unhindered humanitarian access, protection of civilians and human rights, and adherence to international humanitarian and human rights law.

The spokesman for the Rassemblement Federación said that the Sudanese people were aware that the end of the tragedy lay in stopping the war, lifting the siege on civilians and returning refugees to their homes. Noting that the humanitarian crisis was exacerbated by the continuation of the absurd war and the lack of safe pathways to humanitarian relief, he called for pressure on the fighting parties to place the lives of the Sudanese at the forefront, stop the fighting immediately and reach a comprehensive agreement.

In the context, FFC-CC said that it had met with the delegation of the European Union and IGAD to discuss how the political process leading to an end to the war in the Sudan could be designed. The Alliance for Freedom and Change Liaison Committee had presented a vision of the need to coordinate international and regional efforts in a unified negotiating platform and for the political process to be inclusive, excluding only the National Convention and its confrontations.
