The opening session of the Civil Front meeting kicks off in Addis Ababa

This evening, the opening session of the preparatory meetings for the formation of the Civil Front kicks off, with the aim of stopping the war and returning to the democratic transitional path, in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

Many political forces, leaders of Sudanese civil society organizations, and several personalities have participated in an ongoing movement since the outbreak of the war between the army and the rapid support forces on April 15, to reach a formula that unites civil efforts to stop the war. The continuous efforts have culminated in the preparation for the meeting, which is expected to lay out a political roadmap for the general conference of the Civil Front.

According to Citizens observations, delegations are still arriving in the Ethiopian capital, including the leaders of the Freedom and Change parties and other political forces, along with leaders of civil society organizations.

Ambassadors of the Troika countries are expected to participate in the opening session, along with representatives from the Ethiopian government, the African Union, and the IGAD organization.

The preparatory meeting will discuss the vision of the participating parties on how to end the war, in addition to formulating a common vision for the organizational structure of the front expected to be formed at the general conference.
