The Peoples Congress Party, together with the Democratic Unionist Party of Origin (DUP), recorded a absence from the first session of the preparatory meeting for the unification of civilian forces in order to stop the war and restore the democratic path, amid a large presence of political forces, resistance committees, civil forces and armed movements that began today in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

The Political Secretary of the Peoples Congress, Kamal Omar, said that we had not participated in the preparatory meeting now held in Addis Ababa, recognizing that it did not mean their reservation or a problem with the civil front. The meeting was preparatory and everyone was in the process of forming the largest civilian front against the war.

Omar said in a statement to Citizens: We are with all steps to unite the civil front aimed at stopping the war. We therefore have details and political communication with our brothers in freedom and change specifically, and we are with any step that will unite political and civil forces against war.

For its part, the Democratic Unionist Party issued a statement today welcoming the launching of the preparatory meeting for the Civil Front to Stop the War and restore the democratic transition of the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa.

The statement of origin emphasized the integration of Jeddahs path on the military side, the formation of the civil front representing the political faction, to meet all in one path, and an integrated political process that moves the country out of the tunnel of war and into peace.

Todays session was addressed by Abdalla Hamdok, Prime Minister of the transitional government, on 25 October 2021. Hamdok warned that the war now under way threatened the Sudanese States presence. In his address to the first session, he said: This catastrophic situation dictates that all of us should rise up the nation and rise above differences and work to promote reconciliation and call out all the experiences of our people.
