Heavy gunfire causes panic in Haj Yusuf market

Heavy gunfire from various weapons on Monday caused panic and chaos inside the 6 National Unity Market in the Sudanese capital Khartoum neighbourhood of Haj Yusuf.

Parents, shopkeepers and vendors were surprised this afternoon by gunmen sweeping the market north and firing indiscriminate bullets that forced everyone to escape and seek safe haven.

It is not yet officially clear what the motives and reasons were, while there was a rumour that the shooting was the result of a crackdown on negative phenomena, while some witnesses said it was festive.
