US envoy for the Horn of Africa discusses Sudans crisis in Djibouti, Qatar and Ethiopia

US Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, Mike Hammer, visits Djibouti, Qatar and Ethiopia from 7 to 17 December.

A statement by the United States Secretary of State said yesterday that Ambassador Hammer would attend the 41st Special Summit of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) on the Sudan in Djibouti and meet with Djiboutian officials.

The statement added that Hammers efforts would support regional and international efforts on the Sudan to end the conflict, promote democratic transition, push for unhindered humanitarian access and support justice and accountability for victims of violence.

Ambassador Hammer will participate in the Doha Forum in Qatar. He will discuss with country officials regional and international efforts to end ongoing violence in the Sudan and promote stability in the Horn of Africa.

In Ethiopia, the Hammer will meet with African Union officials to coordinate efforts on the Sudan and other regional priorities.
