Reactions to the dismissal of the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Sudan

The effects of the decision to exempt the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dafalla El Haj Ali, from his post are extensive reactions on social media sites. Some viewed the move as a response to the requirement of rapid support and Saudi pressure at the Jeddah platform by removing it, and others expect that the decision will have its aftermath in the coming days, which will see great and exciting surprises in the Sudanese square.

There have been many changes in the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Khartoum and the movement of ambassadors abroad over the past years.

The Minister for Cabinet Affairs in charge of the functioning of the Prime Minister, Osman Hussein, issued a decision Saturday to exempt Ambassador Ali from the post of Under-Secretary of State and to assign Ambassador Hassan Ali Mohamed to the Under-Secretary of State.

The resolution directed the ministries of foreign affairs, labour and administrative reform, finance and economic planning and other stakeholders to take action to implement the resolution.

A Sudanese foreign diplomat described Ambassador Alis exemption as ordinary and periodic. He expected the agent to be sent to the Sudan Embassy in Cairo.

However, a former foreign diplomat confirmed differences within the Ministry regarding the movement of ambassadors movements in a number of foreign States. The ministrys file is 90% controlled by Islamists, especially in the matter of substitution and replacement as a result of internal intersections between them headed by the Deputy Commander-in-Chief, Shams al-Din al-Kabashi, since last October 25 coup d état.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is suffering from a backlog of financial crises that have significantly limited the payment of workers salaries since former Minister Ibrahim Ghandoors tenure during the era of the Al-Bashir regime. Since the coup d état of 25 October 2021, the ministry has witnessed frantic and muffled internal conflicts.
