US administration moves to Sudan justice file

Al Asmai Bashari
The continued impunity of human rights violators in the Sudan; For nearly four decades, he encouraged the outbreak of the April 15 war against unarmed civilians, with massive violations of international humanitarian law from day two of the war to the moment, killing thousands, raping hundreds, displacing millions, destroying health and service institutions, and cutting off water, electricity and communications.

With the stalled negotiations in Jeddah, the double standards with the Djibouti Summit by the coup d état authority in the Sudan and the unwillingness of the warring parties to find a ceasefire understanding that would allow humanitarian access, he encouraged the international transition of another square.

The announcement by the United States Administration, represented by the State Department, of todays press conference on war crimes, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity in the Sudan, By the US Department of States Ambassador-at-Large for Criminal Justice Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, who revealed that the press conference would discuss the latest statement by the United States Secretary of State, Beth Van Shaq. s Armed Forces (SAF) and RSF have jointly committed crimes against humanity " and emphasized in particular the crimes of ethnic cleansing in Darfur committed by rapid support.

Beth Van Shaq is the ambassador-at-large who was sworn in in in March 2022 as the worlds sixth ambassador-at-large for criminal justice (GCJ).

Perhaps it goes without saying that this step by which America has developed the Sudanese case file, reveals that it has moved the file from the political platform to the light of justice, and confirms that Washington has abandoned the political and diplomatic aspect in dealing with the parties to the conflict in the Sudan. It had already begun the process of entering the justice box as a tougher mechanism to put an end to the Sudanese tragedy. It had previously waved about its intention to use more efficient tools in the event of failure to reach a military agreement and to issue personal penalties to persons and institutions belonging to the parties.

Today, the US Ambassador to Criminal Justice will talk about crimes against humanity in the Sudan, definitively identifying its merits and pointing fingers at its perpetrators, against the backdrop of rights reports previously described by the US Foreign Ministry as possessing compelling evidence.

In the same vein as Washington announced the date of its conference, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, issued a statement in which he paid tribute to the role of IGAD, describing the Djibouti Summits encouraging developments on the situation in the Sudan. He also announced the commitment of the United Nations to support the mediation efforts of its African partners and to work with all other relevant stakeholders to help end the war and restore peace in the Sudan, expressing grave concern at the parties unwillingness to cease hostilities, which had caused untold suffering to civilians throughout the Sudan.

The United Nations Secretary-Generals Special Envoy to the Sudan, "Ramadan Lamamra", also announced yesterday his willingness to work with all parties and partners to advance the cause of peace in the Sudan.

It seems obvious that the persistence of the parties to the conflict and their unwillingness to make any progress towards an agreement that will end the suffering of the Sudanese for eight months ago are this time being met with a greater desire by the United States of America and the international community.
