Wave of Robberies Sweeps East Nile Region

moatinoon - Khartoum
A new wave of robberies has swept through the East Nile region, east of the Sudanese capital Khartoum, which has been suffering the ravages of war since it erupted in mid-April last year.

Homes and vacant citizens houses have been subjected to new thefts targeting furniture, refrigerators, and other belongings, as well as electrical appliances.

Taking advantage of the security laxity, some armed individuals executed nighttime thefts in neighborhoods such as Faiha, Al-Qadisiyah, Victory, Al-Redmiya Haj Youssef, especially in squares 2, 18, and 20, in addition to some houses adjacent to the Shuqla area.

The thieves, some of whom are armed with firearms and white weapons, rely on precise information from spies and insiders within the neighborhoods before carrying out the thefts, which usually occur around 2:00 AM. They transport the stolen goods on the backs of traditional means of transportation called "Karo" alongside locally dubbed "Tuk-Tuk" motorcycles.
