Displacement Continues as Artillery Shelling Strikes Qatina

The fighting in the city has forced some displaced individuals who arrived in Wad Madani to flee once again to the states of Sennar in the southeast and Kassala in the east.

Musab Yousri, who fled from Khartoum to Wad Madani, said, "After my family escaped the fighting in Khartoum, I thought we were safe, but the war insists on pursuing us, so we fled again to Sennar."

He added in a statement to the Arab World News Agency (AWP) that thousands are resorting to cargo trucks, while others carry what little they have and travel on foot to reach Sennar due to the scarcity of transportation and the high cost of tickets.

Widad Issac, residing in the city of Rafaha on the east bank of the Blue Nile, stated that she wants to leave the city but has been unable to do so due to the ongoing clashes near her home since last Monday.

She told the Arab World News Agency (AWP), "Fear and terror grip all members of my family. We feel abandoned and unprotected by everyone. They left us to our fate with all windows closed."

She pointed out that the army still closes the Rafaha bridge, connecting Wad Madani and the city of Hassahisa on the west side of the Blue Nile.

The Resistance Committees of Hassahisa city, located 46 kilometers north of Wad Madani, stated that the police forces withdrew from a large section last night, and the militias managed to escape.

They emphasized that this is a very serious matter, putting the citizens of Hassahisa in great danger from all parties. They called on everyone to unite and form teams to prevent any escalation and avoid contact with any armed force.

Rafaha City

Emergency lawyers accused the Rapid Support Forces of attacking Rafaha City on the opposite side of Hassahisa City on the east bank of the Blue Nile, terrorizing civilians, storming the citys hospital, and firing inside it, resulting in the death of two people and injuring others.

Emergency lawyers warned in a statement on Monday that the Rapid Support Forces also attacked Rafaha Citys market and the police station, causing injuries to several civilians, pointing out that Rafaha does not have any military formations or armed forces.

The statement warned the Rapid Support Forces that this behavior violates the rules of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions regarding the protection of civilians. It emphasized that hospitals and civilian residences are civilian objects protected by law, and any deliberate attack on them constitutes war crimes, making the perpetrators liable to the International Criminal Court.

However, the official spokesman for the Rapid Support Forces, Fath Al-Rahman, said on Monday that strict instructions were issued from the Rapid Support Forces leadership to all forces to enhance security, stability, and protect citizens and their properties.

Artillery Shelling
In the city of Qatina, on the border between Khartoum and the White Nile State, the army and the Rapid Support Forces exchanged artillery shelling early in the morning.

Witnesses said that intense artillery shelling from inside the 26th Brigade camp targeted the Rapid Support Forces advancing from the direction of Jebel Aulia south of Khartoum towards the White Nile.

Witnesses reported the start of displacement from areas near the camp and neighborhoods located on the main road connecting Khartoum and the White Nile.

They noted that the Rapid Support Forces also shelled positions of the army forces at the entrances to the White Nile State from the Khartoum side.

On the other hand, the US Embassy in Khartoum emphasized on Tuesday that there is no acceptable military solution to this conflict.

In a statement on Facebook on Tuesday, it mentioned that the only sustainable path forward is one that recognizes that the political future of Sudan belongs to Sudanese civilians.

It added that the Sudanese armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces must end the fighting in Sudan, adhere to their commitments under international humanitarian law, respect human rights, and allow unimpeded access to meet the increasingly urgent humanitarian needs of the Sudanese people.

The statement also warned the Rapid Support Forces that this behavior violates the rules of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions regarding the protection of civilians. It emphasized that hospitals and civilian residences are civilian objects protected by law, and any deliberate attack on them constitutes war crimes, making the perpetrators liable to the International Criminal Court.
