Emergency Room in Kassala: High response from citizens to help displaced persons

Volunteers in the state of Kassala have reported an increasing number of displaced persons from the Gezira state to Kassala. They confirmed that many schools have opened their doors to receive them in coordination with neighborhood committees, school leaders, and the education administration.

The Emergency Room in Kassala, formed by resistance committees in the city to assist the displaced, stated in a statement on Saturday that a meeting was held, including "a large number of initiatives and entities involved in emergency interventions in the city of Kassala." The meeting approved the formation of a field committee, a medical committee, a financial committee, and a womens issues committee to organize the reception and relief efforts for the displaced.

The citizens were urged to donate blankets, mattresses, beds, electrical appliances, lamps, water containers, barrels, shovels, and doctors to work in the reception tent. Photographs on their page showed communal kitchens for cooking and serving meals. They also announced the opening of the door for donations to the financial office of the room.

The room, in collaboration with the executive committee of the taxi union, set up a tent in the popular market to receive the displaced, confirming a high response from citizens to help the displaced.

Regarding the nature of the work carried out by the room, it stated that it operates on two axes: the first is in the reception tent, which serves as a temporary hosting point for the displaced travelers to other regions, and the second is for those who wish to settle in the state of Kassala, where they are registered and distributed to various accommodation centers.
