Political leaders and armed movements see the anticipated meeting between army commanders and the Rapid Support Forces as a crucial step that could lead to a temporary or final agreement to end the war. They warn of the danger of executing dozens of civilians based on their affiliation with specific regions, and express concerns that the war may turn into a civil or regional conflict.

Leaders have called on Burhan and Hemeti to take responsibility for the safety of Sudanese citizens, emphasizing the seriousness and willingness to make necessary concessions to stop the war.

Media outlets reported that Sudans Sovereignty Council President Abdel Fattah al-Burhan received a letter from the head of the IGAD organization inviting him to meet with the Rapid Support Forces leader next Thursday in Djibouti.

The official spokesperson for the Justice and Equality Movement, Hassan Ibrahim, considered the upcoming meeting between the two generals in the coming days, even if it does not result in a ceasefire, as a prelude to other breakthrough meetings in this field.

Hassan Ibrahim stated that if the meeting between Burhan and Hemeti happens, it will throw a stone into the pond of stagnation and killing in the country.

He mentioned that statements and conditions issued here and there do not serve much, and the situation requires international pressure and commitment to achieve a ceasefire, especially since there are grave violations committed by the Rapid Support Forces in the areas they control. There are also cases of identity-based violations by groups supporting the army, which requires serious dealing with.

He pointed out that videos are circulating in the media showing the execution of dozens of innocent civilians, allegedly groups arrested on suspicion of being spies for the Rapid Support Forces, simply because they belong to specific regions. He warned that this is a dangerous indicator that could lead to a civil and regional war.

On the other hand, the leading figure in the Freedom and Change Forces, Shihab al-Tayeb, did not rule out that the two generals in the army and the Rapid Support Forces would reach an agreement during the upcoming meeting, paving the way for a temporary or final cessation of the war.

Shihab al-Tayeb stipulated that the agreement should come after marginalizing and isolating the roles of the leaders of the Islamic movement and its groups leading the war under the pretext of the "dignity war." He emphasized the importance of marginalizing the roles of all these groups and isolating them to achieve a cessation of the war and start a political process that ends with the establishment of a unified, professional national army operating according to the constitution to protect citizens rather than killing them.

He pointed out that the widening scope of the war imposes on the leaders the responsibility of ending this war.

Meanwhile, the political secretary of the Sudanese Congress Party, Sharif Mohamed Osman, said that the upcoming meeting between the army and the Rapid Support Forces commanders represents a great opportunity to stop the war, cease hostilities between the two parties, and allow the entry of humanitarian aid and provide safe areas for civilians.

He considered that the meeting paves the way for starting political discussions that offer fundamental solutions to the issues of war in the country, including the April 15th war, and ending the suffering of Sudanese people that has lasted for decades.

Sharif called on the army and the Rapid Support Forces commanders to show sufficient will to end the suffering of the Sudanese people and take responsibility for the safety of the Sudanese, which requires more serious positions and a willingness to make all necessary concessions to stop this war.

Meanwhile, Rapid Support Forces Commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo said in a post on his "X" platform account, "I received a letter from the head of the Coordination of Civil Democratic Forces, Dr. Abdullah Hamdouk, inviting us to an urgent meeting to discuss issues of stopping the war and addressing its effects."

Hemeti expressed his full welcome to holding this meeting immediately and starting directly to discuss the arrangements for the meeting. He said, "We extend our hands welcoming any national effort that brings peace and ends the suffering caused by the war.
