Today, the arrival of a delegation from the Coordination of Democratic Civil Forces, led by the former Prime Minister of Sudan, Abdullah Hamdok, is expected in the Djiboutian capital to meet with President Ismail Omar Guelleh.

Guelleh extended the invitation to the coordination after the announcement in Addis Ababa following the conclusion of the two-day meeting between the Coordination of Civil Forces led by Hamdok and the Rapid Support Forces led by their commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo.

The Addis Ababa declaration included a call for an end to the ongoing war in Sudan. It also outlined commitments to repatriate displaced persons under the supervision of a national committee, establish committees to investigate violations and hold perpetrators accountable, create safe corridors, release hundreds detained by the Rapid Support Forces, and involve civilians in peace talks.

Hamdok stated in remarks after the meeting that "what distinguishes this declaration is that it detailed how to address the issues comprehensively, deeply, and practically, to establish mechanisms to ensure the implementation of what has been agreed upon."

Hamdoks meeting with Djiboutis president precedes an anticipated meeting between the Sudanese armys leader, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the commander of the Rapid Support Forces, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, in Djibouti, where Djibouti is currently presiding over the current session of IGAD. The meeting is expected to be attended by several heads of IGAD member states, as well as partners from the Jeddah platform, the African Union, and the European Union. The date of the meeting has not been firmly set.

Several attempts to end the conflict between the conflicting parties in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, have not yielded results, and the warring parties have not respected any agreements resulting from the negotiations.
