The Sudanese human rights group "Emergency Lawyers" stated yesterday that more than 53 citizens, including both killed and injured, have fallen victim to the ongoing clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces for the third consecutive day in the city of Babanusa.

In a statement, the organization explained that the Rapid Support Forces attack on Babanusa, the capital of West Kordofan state, and the surrounding villages, coupled with the three-day-long battles with the army involving light and heavy weapons, aerial and artillery shelling, resulted in more than 23 civilian deaths and over 30 injuries. Additionally, six civilians were reportedly detained, and a significant number of residents have been displaced to safer areas.

The organization condemned the continued expansion of the war by the Rapid Support Forces in secure cities, accusing them of terrorizing civilians and committing grave violations that warrant criminal accountability under international humanitarian law and the basic statute of the International Criminal Court.

Expressing regret and concern for the violations against innocent civilians in West Kordofan state, the organization pledged to monitor all violations by warring parties, collaborate with regional and international organizations to expose these crimes, and work towards ensuring accountability.
