The Demands Bodies Coalition "TAM" stated that the lack of justice regarding the case and demands of the families of the martyrs of the January 29 massacre in the city of Port Sudan made the use of lethal force against civilian revolutionaries "a normal matter" that the authority resorts to whenever it wants to suppress the revolutionaries and silence mouths.

This came in a statement by the coalition on Friday, on the eighteenth anniversary of the killing of 22 civilians and the injury of many by the security forces during the era of the ousted Omar al-Bashir, in response to a peaceful demonstration organized by citizens on January 29, 2005, in the city of Port Sudan, the capital of the Red Sea State in eastern Sudan.

The coalition called for changing the governor of the state and security leaders, providing jobs for the citizens of eastern Sudan, and addressing professional and trade union issues for workers at the Port Sudan port.

The TAM coalition, which includes the Committee of the Families of the Martyrs of January 29 - Port Sudan, has regularly issued statements demanding the rights of the martyrs of January 29 and their families.

The statement, titled "Rights Do Not Expire," added that commemorating the anniversary of that massacre is an opportunity to demand the return of rights to its people, and to hold accountable those involved in preparing, executing, planning, and covering up that heinous crime.

It called for the publication of the results of the investigation into the January 29 massacre in Port Sudan, the acknowledgment of the rights of the martyrs families, the redress of forgotten grievances for the people of Port Sudan, the restoration of official consideration, and recognition of appreciation for its martyrs, representing the alternative capital now. Then, it called for the resumption of the rest of the legal and human rights procedures related to the case of the January 29 martyrs.
