Bashair Hospital in South Khartoum Suspends Medical Services

moatinoon - Khartoum
Bashair Hospital in the southern part of the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, announced on Tuesday the suspension of all medical services and health activities after the medical and administrative staff decided to go on an indefinite strike.

The Emergency Chamber of Mayu South Belt stated that the hospital has halted its medical services in protest against the firing of live ammunition and bullets within the hospital premises by some elements of the Rapid Support Forces.

The hospital, which is managed by Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), received 5,445 patients in January of this year, including 583 critical cases of gunshot and projectile injuries, 4,849 cases in internal medicine, womens health, and maternity wards, 418 children, and recorded 13 deaths.

According to the Emergency Chamber, Bashair Hospital will continue to provide its services to kidney patients without disclosing the daily working hours.
