Bashayer Hospital Resumes Operation

mooatinoon
A volunteer group announced that Bashayer Hospital, located south of Khartoum, has resumed operations on Sunday after a six-day hiatus.

The hospital staff had suspended all medical services and health activities last Monday, January 29, after deciding to go on an open-ended strike in protest of the firing of live ammunition and bullets within the hospital premises by some elements of the Rapid Support Forces.

The Emergency Room of the Southern Belt issued a statement last Saturday, indicating that Bashayer Hospital would resume work on Sunday after assurances from the Rapid Support Forces to control their personnel and provide security for the hospital.

The hospital had previously been attacked in early December.

Médecins Sans Frontières manages Bashayer Hospital, and volunteers from the Emergency Room of the Southern Belt contribute to the operation and management of services.
