Abdullah Suleiman, the spokesperson for the municipality of Al-Kufra city in southeast Libya, announced last Saturday that thousands of Sudanese displaced individuals continue to flow into the city.

He warned that the city might face difficulties in accommodating the increasing numbers. Additionally, hospitals are experiencing shortages of medical equipment and medications, making it challenging to treat those suffering from various illnesses.

In statements posted on the municipalitys Facebook page, he stated that the number is very large, but there is no precise count because the entry process is unorganized, and it is unknown where they enter or stay.

Suleiman urged Libyan authorities and international organizations to intervene by visiting the city, coordinating with the municipal council and the Red Crescent Society to provide necessary support and urgent aid. He mentioned that the city, with a population of no more than 50,000, is small and faces difficulties in containing the growing numbers.

Regarding the conditions of the arriving Sudanese refugees, Suleiman mentioned that some of them live in abandoned houses or with the immigrant workforce in the municipality, while others sleep in the farms surrounding the city.

He added that the newcomers receive assistance from the Red Crescent team or from civil initiatives. There is also a citizen who provides breakfast daily for more than two thousand people, and another village provided a thousand blankets.

The media networks Al-Raed newspaper published a video titled "Civil Campaign to Assist Sudanese Displaced People," showing residents of Al-Kufra city distributing food and blankets to those displaced by the war in Sudan.
