The human rights organization "Emergency Lawyers" stated that nine civilians were killed, and thirteen others were injured due to an airstrike by the Sudanese Armed Forces warplanes on the city of Ad-Duwayn, the capital of East Darfur state, on Tuesday morning.

In a statement today, the organization clarified, "The military warplanes carried out an airstrike on Ad-Duwayn city, the capital of East Darfur state, around 2:00 AM, bombing the Nim Displaced Persons Camp north of the city, as well as the Salam and Tadamun neighborhoods. The Zareba market was also destroyed."

However, media reports suggested that the death toll ranged between 10 and 15 civilians. The Sudan Observatory and Water Monitor quoted Said Madbo, the deputy supervisor of the Rizeigat tribe, stating that an entire family was among the casualties. Radio Dabanga reported another tribal leader, Mayor Musa Issa, saying that bombs fell in five locations, resulting in the death of ten people. One bomb hit the Railway Street neighborhood, causing the death of two people and injuring two others. Another bomb fell in the Tadamun neighborhood, leading to the death of a family of six, including women and children. Bombs also landed in the Um Warakat area and south of the old Hameia.

This marks the second airstrike targeting civilians within 24 hours, according to a separate statement released by the organization on Monday, stating that the Sudanese Armed Forces conducted an aerial attack on civilians in the Hamera area of North Kordofan state.

"The military warplanes continued to bomb civilian homes and structures with explosive barrels, resulting in injuries and the disruption of the Hameia Hospital," the organization added, noting that this attack is the tenth in the past eight months.

The organization emphasized that the two airstrikes targeted civilian areas with no military bases, signs, or activity, constituting a war crime and a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, conventions, and treaties prohibiting the killing of civilians in wars.

It condemned the horrifying violations against innocent civilians, attempts to displace them from their homes through continuous shelling, and pledged to continue monitoring and documenting all violations in Sudan, identifying those responsible and ensuring their accountability for their crimes.
