A local volunteer group announced the killing of 7 citizens and the injury of three others due to artillery shells, without mentioning their source.

The "Emergency Room Janoub Alhizam" said in a statement on Friday that seven citizens died on Thursday afternoon as a result of the fall of three artillery shells in the Al-Nahda neighborhood, squares (1, 3, and 4), also causing a number of injuries ranging from critical to mild, and they were transferred to Bashair and Al-Raqi hospitals for treatment.

It clarified that among the deceased are a child from South Sudan, a medical worker and her mother, and the father of a doctor, while two other children and a tea seller were injured.

Emergency response rooms (ERRs) are local volunteer groups from the community that emerged from the resistance committees in the neighborhoods, which led and toppled the regime of the ousted president Omar al-Bashir. They now lead relief efforts for citizens stranded in war zones in various neighborhoods. These groups are the only channel for feeding, treating, and evacuating tens of thousands of citizens after the withdrawal of international relief organizations for security reasons.

The "Janoub Alhizam" area, a densely populated residential area, includes several neighborhoods and numerous markets. It is located south of the capital Khartoum and is currently controlled by the Rapid Support Forces. Hundreds have been killed and injured in this area due to frequent clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces since the outbreak of the war in April last year.

The spokesperson for the Emergency Room Janoub Alhizam, Mohamed Kandisha, said in earlier statements that the area is considered the most affected by random bombardment in Khartoum.
