The voluntary relief group, "Bahri Emergency Room," announced the complete cessation of hospital services and partial closure of pharmacies in Bahri city, Khartoum, due to internet service disruption.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the group stated, "The entire health sector, including hospitals and pharmacies, is significantly affected by the internet service interruption and the halt of bank transfers." It warned that the lives of many patients and visitors are at risk.

The group called for the urgent restoration of internet service and the provision of necessary resources to ensure the continuity of healthcare services for citizens, addressing the shortage in pharmacies and medical centers.

The "Bahri Emergency Room" is a coalition of several civil committees providing medicines, supporting hospitals and health centers, and preparing and delivering food to tens of thousands of residents in various neighborhoods of Bahri, relying on donations received through bank transfers.

Last Monday, it was announced that the internet outage had led to the cessation of all communal kitchens operating in Bahri. The group established and supervised 56 kitchens in collaboration with neighborhoods to feed 62,000 families.

The group stated that the internet disruption prevented communication with supporting organizations and donor entities for essential medical supplies and drugs. The halt of bank transfers resulted in a funding shortage for purchasing necessary medicines and medical supplies, leading to the suspension of medical services. The inability to access patient files online hindered the provision of comprehensive and effective healthcare, causing central pharmacies and neighborhood pharmacies, all affiliated with Bahri Emergency Room, to cease operations, along with the closure of all medical centers.
