In a new statistic, the ACLED organization, which monitors trends worldwide, stated that the number of victims of the Sudan war has risen to more than 14,600 deaths, with over 5.000 military clashes since the outbreak of the war in April of last year. This figure exceeds its last statistic on January 17th by more than 1.600 deaths, according to a report covering the period from January 6th to February 9th.

In the absence of official local records of war victims in Sudan, ACLED has become the primary source for estimating the casualties of the Sudanese war, noting that the toll remains below the actual figures.

ACLED, or "Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project" is a non-governmental organization specialized in collecting data on conflicts worldwide.

The organization explained that it recorded more than 655 clashes and 1,068 deaths from January 6th to February 9th, 2024.

It emphasized that most of the clashes occurred in the Khartoum state during the reporting period, totaling more than 440 clashes, resulting in 434 deaths. However, it noted that violent events in West Kordofan were particularly deadly, with 21 clashes leading to the killing of at least 138 people.
