Médecins Sans Frontières in Port Sudan stated that over the past two months, they have provided support to the displaced people from Medani to the city of Port Sudan. The aid has been distributed across 49 shelters accommodating 5,000 displaced individuals from 64 centers in the city.

The assistance comes as part of an emergency response from January 28 to the end of March in Port Sudan for the recently displaced from Wad Madani. It focuses on providing emergency medical care and sanitation, urging the provision of sufficient water supplies, and food distribution by other humanitarian organizations.

The organization mentioned that "most of these displaced people have been displaced multiple times, coming initially from various states, including Khartoum. They settled in Wad Madani before moving again to Port Sudan."

It further added, "School sites have become a refuge for these displaced individuals, where entire families – mothers, fathers, and children – find it unusual to stay in a place designated for education, not for living."
