The United Kingdom has called for the establishment of a civilian transitional government that fully respects the basic human rights of the Sudanese people. The UK representative at the Security Council stated today that the military leadership of both the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces holds the responsibility for determining Sudans political future.

The International Security Council held a session today to discuss the ceasefire in Sudan before the month of Ramadan, upon the invitation of the United Kingdom. The UK representative urged Security Council members to hold the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces accountable for the dire situation in Sudan.

He stated, "Bombardments and attacks from both sides in densely populated areas, urban regions, and across the entire western region of Sudan continue to kill and terrorize civilians."

Moreover, he highlighted the unbearable condition of children, especially due to the displacement of four million children, where over 700,000 are expected to suffer from severe malnutrition this year. Sudanese children have been out of school for a year, facing the fear of not knowing when they will receive their next meal.

The Sudanese authorities were urged to fulfill their commitments by facilitating cross-border and other humanitarian aid routes to provide life-saving assistance to the Sudanese people. The situation in Sudan calls for a strong response from the Council and increased attention from the international community. The UK representative added, "As we approach the holy month of Ramadan, we reiterate the Secretary-Generals call for an immediate ceasefire and urge all parties to allow the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid across borders."

The United Kingdom called on international partners, including the African Union, the International Development Government Agency, regional states, and the UN Special Envoy, to prioritize coordinating their efforts to end this conflict and reject attempts by warring parties to set various mediation paths against each other.
