Despite nearly a year passing since the war in Sudan, the movement of refugees from neighboring countries into the country or displacement from one state to another continues.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees announced in its periodic report this week the arrival of 101 refugees from Eritrea and Ethiopia to eastern Sudan through crossing points in the states of Kassala and Gedaref, while registration was completed for 185 Ethiopian refugees who had previously arrived and were transferred to refugee camps in Kassala and Gedaref.

The commission also relocated 140 other refugees to Um Gargourou Camp and Shagarab Camp in the state of Kassala.

In White Nile State, 44 South Sudanese families, comprising 273 individuals from Wad Madani in Al Jazeera State, arrived at refugee camps in White Nile State, bringing the total number of new arrivals to refugee camps to 26,904 individuals, constituting 3,815 families since December 2023. Currently, there are a total of 441,983 refugees residing in camps in White Nile State.

White Nile State has been a haven for hundreds of thousands of refugees from South Sudan following the civil war in 2013, and they have been distributed across 11 refugee camps in the state.
