The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) has launched an "Emergency Appeal" to raise 60 million Swiss francs to support the Sudanese Red Crescent and expand its life-saving humanitarian response in the country. Additionally, a "Regional Response Movement" appeal has been initiated to raise another 42 million Swiss francs to support humanitarian activities of national societies in neighboring countries such as Egypt, Chad, South Sudan, Central African Republic, Ethiopia, and Libya.

In a joint statement issued on Monday, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) stated that the Sudanese Red Crescent is at the forefront of efforts by the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (the Movement) to ensure that Sudanese civilians receive the humanitarian protection and assistance they urgently need.

The statement added, "The Sudanese Red Crescent, alongside its partners, has played a pivotal role in providing basic medical assistance to hospitals, delivering relief to internally displaced persons and host communities, and facilitating family reunifications for those separated due to the unrest. The Sudanese Red Crescent has managed to provide support to thousands of the most vulnerable affected by reaching all parts of the country."

Ayat Siddig Abdullah, Secretary-General of the Sudanese Red Crescent, stated, "We urge the international community to increase support to help us meet the urgent needs of local communities trapped by conflict. We cannot allow Sudan to become another forgotten crisis."

The statement clarified, "The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), along with nine participating National Societies (Danish Red Cross, German Red Cross, Dutch Red Cross, Norwegian Red Cross, Qatar Red Crescent, Spanish Red Cross, Swedish Red Cross, Swiss Red Cross, and Turkish Red Crescent), are partnering with the Sudanese Red Crescent to protect those affected by ongoing conflict in Sudan and natural disasters and extend assistance to them."
