The United States today pledged an additional 100 million in humanitarian aid to Sudan, just hours before the International Humanitarian Conference in Paris tomorrow, Monday.

Samantha Power, Director of the U.S. Agency for International Development, said in a statement, "The United States pledges an additional 100 million in emergency food aid, nutritional support, and other life-saving assistance to respond to this conflict, which has become one of the most dangerous crises in the world."

She added, "Announcing more than 100 million in humanitarian aid raises the total U.S. humanitarian assistance to over 1 billion since the conflict began. The United States remains the largest single donor of humanitarian aid to respond to emergencies in Sudan and neighboring countries."

While confirming Americas participation in the Paris conference, she urged other countries to increase support for the Sudanese people and mobilize additional support urgently for Sudans response, stating, "Increasing resources for this underfunded response is crucial to enable humanitarian workers to provide necessities such as food, water, and medical care."
