A specialized organization in conflict data collection stated that the number of war victims in Sudan reached 15,550 victims.

This figure exceeds its previous announcement on March 8th by 760 fatalities.

"Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED)" clarified yesterday, Monday, that the number of armed clashes since the outbreak of fighting in April last year between the Sudanese Armed Forces and Rapid Support Forces has reached 5,550 clashes, resulting in more than 15,550 reported deaths in Sudan as of April 5th.

It added that most of the clashes during the period between April 15, 2023, and April 5, 2024, occurred in Khartoum State, where more than 3,660 incidents and over 7,050 deaths were reported.

It indicated that over 1,400 armed attacks targeting civilians have been recorded since the start of the war, with civilians in Khartoum State being the most targeted, with over 650 attacks and at least 1,470 fatalities. Meanwhile, 32% of the total reported civilian deaths in the country were registered in Darfur.

It is believed that the figures recorded by ACLED, the sole entity registering the number of attacks and victims, significantly underestimate the true number of casualties of the Sudan war. No combatant party announces figures of military or civilian casualties. UN experts had earlier announced that 15,000 had fallen in the city of El Geneina alone.
