The sit-in of Sudanese refugees in the Kormer and Oulala camps in the Amhara region of Ethiopia continues for the second day after an attack by an unknown force on the Kormer camp, attributed by Ethiopian authorities to armed groups.

The Sudanese refugees began their sit-in yesterday morning, laying on the ground outside the two camps, on the main road leading to the historic city of Gondar, the capital of the region, protesting the repeated incidents faced by refugees. The Ethiopian armed forces obstructed the march of the refugees aimed at reaching Gondar.

Through the "moatinoon" online newspaper, refugees urgently appealed to relevant authorities and organizations. The refugees complain of the lack of security since entering Ethiopian camps after the outbreak of the war between the Sudanese armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces on April 15 last year.

A source told "moatinoon" that the situation has become tragic, prompting everyone to leave since yesterday, fearing the repercussions and developments of the crisis.

The source added that residents in the refugee camps in Ethiopia have despaired of being there, especially as the entire region has not enjoyed peace and security since the Tigray war, and refugees cannot find protection and security.

Around 8,000 Sudanese refugees reside in the Kormer, Oulala, and Transit camps, including refugees from Eritrea. Sudanese refugees are demanding to be relocated from this area to safer locations.

In addition to the lack of security, refugees suffer from severe food shortages, lack of healthcare, and complete absence of education for children.

One refugee told "moatinoon" that Ethiopia has opened its borders to us, which we appreciate, but it is unable to provide us with protection in the midst of the complex situation inside it. Humanitarian organizations are urged to find a solution to this catastrophic situation for Sudanese by evacuating them to a safe area.

"moatinoon" information indicates the recurrence of incidents of killing, looting, and arson inside Sudanese refugee camps in Ethiopia throughout the past year since the outbreak of the war in Sudan.
