Fighting Intensifies in El Fasher

A volunteer group in El Fasher stated that the fighting in the city of El Fasher continues fiercely for the sixth consecutive day between the armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces and their allies.

Late tonight, the Coordination Committee of the Resistance in El Fasher announced that "the Sudanese armys warplanes are currently conducting airstrikes east of El Fasher," while random shelling by the Rapid Support Forces persists in citizens homes, shelters, and hospitals.

On its Facebook page, the group posted photographs of individuals engaged in construction work, whom they described as volunteers working day and night to expand the area of the "Martyrs Health Center" to accommodate more patients due to the ongoing clashes in the city, which have led to the closure of many hospitals and health centers.

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) announced in a new report today that the clashes have resulted in the death and injury of 454 individuals, those who managed to reach the southern hospital in El Fasher managed by the organization. However, they noted that the actual number is much higher because many people cannot reach the hospital due to the ongoing fighting in the city.

Earlier today, the US Treasury Department announced sanctions on two leaders of the Sudanese Rapid Support Forces, Ali Yaqoub Jabril and Osman Mohammed Hamed Mohammed, stating that they lead the attacks in El Fasher and threatened to continue using sanctions against those seeking to perpetuate the conflict in Sudan.
