An international conflict monitoring organization reported that since the onset of the war in Sudan in April last year, the warring parties have initiated over 6,050 incidents of political violence, resulting in more than 16,650 deaths—an increase of 875 deaths compared to last March.

ACLED (Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project), an organization specializing in conflict data collection, stated on Monday that attacks on civilians increased by 30% during April and early May compared to violence against civilians in March.

The report highlighted that most of the violent incidents against civilians were perpetrated by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the states of Al Jazirah and North Darfur, noting that between April 6 and May 10, 2024, more than 415 armed clashes occurred.

It further explained that most of the attacks against civilians during April and May, totaling 160 attacks compared to 142 clashes between the fighting forces, took place in North Darfur and Khartoum states, resulting in the deaths of 239 people in North Darfur and 100 people in Khartoum.
