International Organization for Migration: Number of Displaced Exceeds Ten Million

The number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Sudan has exceeded ten million, while more than two million Sudanese have crossed borders into neighboring countries.

According to the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) issued by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) on the 11th of this month, 10,095,054 people have been displaced. These individuals are currently spread across 8,239 locations in 183 localities within all 18 states of the country.

This figure includes both those displaced before and after the current war, which has forced 7,262,187 people to flee within Sudan since April 15, 2023. Pre-war displaced individuals account for 26% and have been subjected to secondary displacement since April 15, 2023.

The DTM indicated that most of the displaced are from Khartoum State, accounting for 36%, followed by South Darfur at 21% and North Darfur at 12%. Children under the age of 18 make up more than half of the internally displaced population, at 55%.

Since April 15, 2023, the number of people who have crossed into neighboring countries stands at 2,170,592.
