The Emergency Lawyers group has called on the Military Intelligence and the Command of the 4th Infantry Division to immediately release journalist Siddiq Dalai and all civilians detained in areas under the control of the armed forces. In a statement issued today, the group said it holds them fully responsible for his safety.

The Emergency Lawyers warned against the violations carried out by Military Intelligence as part of what they call the security cell, stating that these crimes will not be subject to a statute of limitations and all perpetrators will be held accountable, with none escaping justice.

The Military Intelligence of the 4th Infantry Division in the Blue Nile state has continued to detain Siddiq Dalai, a member of the Sudanese Journalists Union, since May 15. This detention follows his solidarity article with one of the victims who was executed in Al Jazeera state by Military Intelligence.

The Emergency Lawyers group expressed their solidarity with Siddiq Dalai and their concern for his safety, particularly given the inhumane conditions of his detention. Additionally, Military Intelligence has refused to allow his family to check on his health and well-being.

The group reiterated its ongoing solidarity with Sudanese journalists and condemned the continuous violations they and other civilians have faced from both sides of the conflict since the armed conflict erupted.
