Situation in Khartoum the Capital: From the Pages of Emergency Rooms

“Moatinoon” reported the significant efforts made by volunteers in emergency rooms across various parts of Khartoum, aiming to alleviate the impact of the war on those who chose to stay in the city. These emergency rooms play a crucial role in covering health needs amid the shutdown of hospitals due to the conflict.

Efforts range from providing food to thousands of families supported by generous citizens. However, many emergency rooms have complained about a shortage of financial resources, leading to the closure of many free kitchens, which puts families at risk of hunger.

South Belt Emergency Room
The South Belt Emergency Room complained that all free kitchens in the area, including the Ed Hussein and Al-Nasr sectors, are out of service due to a lack of financial resources and food supplies.

The room reported cases of severe watery diarrhea and vomiting in the South Belt area, particularly in Al-Madina Al-Khairiya and Al-Salama Al-Jadida neighborhoods, resulting in three deaths so far.

In a shining example of the Sudanese community’s spirit of solidarity, a generous person donated the costs of their wedding to the room, which used the funds to distribute a slaughtered animal to residents of Al-Inqaz neighborhood in the Abu Jan suburb as part of the "Prophet’s Dish" initiative under the rooms supervision. The meal benefited 193 families and fed more than 50 people at the AbuJa mosque.

Old Omdurman Emergency Room
Continuing its efforts to rehabilitate health centers, work progressed on renovating the Wad Nubawi Health Center under the supervision of the Old Omdurman Emergency Room with the help of Omdurman’s residents.

The room praised the role played by volunteers in easing the impact of the war on citizens. It extended thanks to all the supervisors of communal kitchens, neighborhood soup kitchens, shelter supervisors, hospital volunteers, members of emergency rooms, and everyone working to help Sudanese citizens, especially on the occasion of World Humanitarian Day.

Bahri Emergency Room
As part of the awareness and health campaigns launched by the Bahri Emergency Room, they posted on their Facebook page some of the environmental sanitation activities and “spraying” operations at the Al-Shaabiya Health Center, carried out by the rooms medical office. The room is working on covering all reachable centers in Bahri.

East Al-Jarif Emergency Room
The East Al-Jarif Emergency Room announced a health day dedicated to treating the widespread eye infection on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.

The day will include consultations with a doctor, along with medications for the condition. Additionally, there will be general guidelines on preventing the infection and managing it. Activities will start from 9:00 a.m. and continue until 3:00 p.m.
