Hundreds of Sudanese Victims Due to Aerial and Artillery Bombardment Within Two Days

Several regions in Sudan have witnessed an escalation in military operations targeting civilian population centers over the past two days, continuing into this morning. Hundreds of civilians have fallen victim to indiscriminate bombardments, either killed or injured.

In Darfur, the Coordination of Resistance Committees in the city of El Fasher announced today that 15 people were killed and 60 others injured due to artillery shelling by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which targeted the livestock market in the city and the Zamzam camp. Meanwhile, the Director-General of the Ministry of Health in North Darfur reported 64 injuries caused by RSF shelling in El Fasher today.

Yesterday, Omdurman witnessed a massacre that claimed the lives of 65 citizens due to indiscriminate shelling by the RSF on the densely populated Thawrat area. Resistance committees in several cities condemned the targeting of civilians and residential areas, renewing their calls for an end to the war.

The day before, the "Emergency Lawyers" group condemned airstrikes carried out by Sudanese army warplanes on the market of the city of Kabkabiya in North Kordofan State.

The group stated in a statement that the airstrike took place during the weekly market day, where people from various villages had gathered to shop. The attack resulted in over 100 deaths and hundreds of injuries, including women and children.

They described the incident as a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, which prohibits targeting civilians and peaceful gatherings.

The statement also mentioned that the warplanes targeted Nyala, the capital of South Darfur State, affecting neighborhoods such as Al-Matar, Al-Rahman, and Al-Masane’ using barrel bombs. It added that these attacks are part of an ongoing escalation campaign, disproving claims that the bombing focuses solely on military targets, as the airstrikes deliberately concentrate on populated residential areas.

In North Kordofan, the "Emergency Lawyers" group documented several incidents involving unidentified drones. One drone exploded yesterday evening, having fallen on November 26, 2024, in the Al-Mirkh area north of Sodari, killing six people, including children, and injuring three others critically.

In a separate incident on November 28, 2024, two drones crashed between Hamrat Al-Sheikh and Abu Zaeimah without exploding, despite containing detonation fuses, indicating the ongoing danger these drones pose to civilians.

The group considered these crimes and violations a dangerous pattern of disregard for civilian lives, alongside the use of unconventional weapons and war remnants that pose a lasting threat to affected communities.

The "Emergency Lawyers" group called on the international community to assume its moral and legal responsibilities, work towards justice and accountability, and ensure civilian protection.

They expressed full solidarity with all those affected in Kabkabiya, Nyala, and the areas impacted by war remnants in North Kordofan. The group reaffirmed its commitment to documenting these crimes and pursuing the prosecution and accountability of those responsible.
