The death toll from a drone attack by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on a market in El Fasher, the capital of Northern Darfur state, rose to 38 on Sunday. At the same time, displacement to safe areas of Kabkabiya and the Samarab area of Khartoum North continued as a result of fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces.

The Coordinator had previously reported that a strategic RSF drone hit the city centres Rayon Boys neighbourhood last night with four highly explosive rockets, killing more than 20 people and seriously injuring more than 20 others.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced the displacement of 70 families from El Fasher on Friday and Saturday as clashes between the military and rapid support continued in the citys eastern and southern neighbourhoods.

Since May 10, El Fasher has been witnessing clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, despite international warnings of fighting in the city, which is the centre of humanitarian operations for the five Darfur states.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), for its part, reported in a statement on Sunday that 1,000 families had been displaced from Kabkabiya, Northern Darfur, due to airstrikes on the city.

The statement indicated that families had been displaced to areas; Saraf Umra, Tina and Saif, Northern Darfur State, and Central Darfur State.

In Khartoum Norh, the Emergency Room appealed for urgent assistance to civilians displaced to safer areas due to fighting in the Samarab neighbourhood in Khartoum North between the fighting sides.

The Chamber stated that 2,000 displaced persons were seeking shelter under extreme weather conditions with deteriorating health conditions, hunger and malnutrition.
