A message to all segments of Sudanese society, both inside and outside the country:
On the anniversary of Sudans independence on January 1st, while the countrys suffering intensifies due to the war that has burdened the citizens, we all stand today before a human and national responsibility. We cannot celebrate this day as we used to, but we can make it a moment of hope and a call for life and peace.
To journalists: Write impactful stories about the daily struggles of citizens and their small and big dreams in the midst of the war. Share their voices with the world; the voices of resilience and hope, so that everyone knows what the Sudanese people are going through and what they deserve: a dignified and safe life.
To singers and artists: Release songs that call for an end to the war and celebrate peace, songs that promote the values of coexistence and restore hope to the hearts. Let your art be a balm for the nations wounds and a voice for love and reconciliation.
To painters and creatives: Create paintings that depict the suffering of Sudanese people and their aspirations for peace. Paintings that remind the world of Sudan’s beauty and the strength of its people, despite the difficult circumstances.
To poets and writers: Use your words as a beacon of hope. Write poems and verses that instill longing for peace and the return to a unified homeland, words that affirm that life is stronger than war.
To every Sudanese citizen: Contribute in whatever way you can—with your ideas, volunteer work, and both material and moral support. The country is in desperate need of every hand that extends and every voice that calls for peace.
To Sudanese refugees everywhere: You are the ambassadors of Sudan, and your voices have a significant impact. Send messages of thanks and appreciation to the communities that have hosted and embraced you in your time of hardship, and show your understanding of the reasons that forced you to seek refuge in their countries. At the same time, urge them to support peace efforts and stand by the Sudanese people to alleviate the humanitarian suffering and restore hope for a return to a peaceful and stable homeland.
To Sudans friends around the world: We call on you to stand with the Sudanese people, both inside and outside the country, and support all humanitarian initiatives aimed at aiding the affected, while working to spread a culture of peace.
Through these collective efforts, we can transform Sudan’s Independence Day into a platform for solidarity and peace, where the voices of art, creativity, and love rise above the sound of war. Let January 1st be a day for the peace we all deserve.
