The Preliminary Committee of the Sudan Doctors Union condemned grave violations posted on social media platforms documenting attacks on civilians by forces fighting alongside the armed forces after the latter regained control of the capital of Al Jazeera State, a civilian.

For his part, the spokesperson for the Sudanese Armed Forces condemned what he called the recent "individual abuses" in some areas of Al Jazeera State. He affirmed the Armys strict adherence to international law and its desire to hold accountable anyone involved in any prejudices affecting anyone in the Canabe and the villages of the island State in accordance with the law.

"The biggest loser of this war is unarmed civilians as a result of the ongoing conflict, killed in both cases by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) or the forces currently fighting with the military," the doctors committee said in a statement today.

It deplored the use by some groups accounted for by the defunct regime of victorys atmosphere to settle political scores with their opponents, in the eyes of the armed forces and the security services. They considered that such practices constituted a flagrant violation of human dignity and human rights and were contrary to national laws and international instruments guaranteeing the protection of civilians.

The Commission condemned the emplacement of the belligerent forces themselves as the governor of innocent people, or the exercise of any form of collective punishment against them under any pretext whatsoever. She stressed that the accountability of accused persons or suspects in action or combat with rapid support must be carried out in accordance with the law, through the police, the prosecutors office and the judiciary, and not through the application of the law of the jungle or the implementation of out-of-justice liquidations.

The Sudanese Armed Forces have assumed full moral and legal responsibility for preventing such conduct, which is contrary to national laws and international instruments that protect civilians. It called on the State party to conduct impartial, transparent and prompt investigations into these crimes, bring those involved to justice fairly and ensure that they do not go unpunished, thereby achieving justice and preventing the future recurrence of such violations.

Todays press release confirmed that they are closely following the security situation in the region in coordination with the Security Committee of the Island State to secure all areas.
