The US envoy to Sudan, Tom Perriello, accused the Sudanese authorities in Port Sudan, led by the military, of obstructing the delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need.
In a post on Platform X yesterday evening, Perriello stated, "The Sudanese Humanitarian Aid Commission has allowed only 10% of the humanitarian supplies in Port Sudan to reach those urgently needing food and medicine."
He added, "90% of the emergency relief has been blocked or delayed by the authorities in Port Sudan."
He called for "finding common ground to facilitate the flow of food and medicine," saying, "For those suffering in Kadugli, Khartoum, Nyala, or the north, we must find common ground on how to expedite the flow of emergency food and medicine to every corner of Sudan as swiftly as possible."
Perriello noted that 6.5 million people in Sudan urgently need food to survive, while a total of 25 million require emergency humanitarian assistance.
